Hi Steve,

It's a great idea for a network. Do you accept CV's and headshots for any future productions?

Many thanks,

Natalie Lesser

Steve: many thanks. Will when I get the chance.
Seems I'm now getting myself obligated to blog/comment all over the place! (ehemingway.ning, Facebook, Redroom, even IMDB and movietickets.com!)
And none of it, I might ad, financially helpful!

But, hey, "the play's the thing," right?
Allbest,
hijo

Thank you Steve, All things are moving forward for the Stratford-upon-Avon artist colony. All done with no money of course but is HAS inspired so far 18 artists in the town to join the collective. I wish I had room for them all to have a studio but the building we are renting only has the room for four. All artists though will exhibit and sell from the colony gallery. 10% of sales going back into the colony for light bulbs etc. Its simple and effective and is already proving to be a guiding light for visual arts in the town. I am putting out a call to ALL artists around the world who have an interest in the town and shakespeare to present a piece of work. painting, digital, or whatever medium depicting Stratford during the life of shakespeare. There will be a prize and there will be an exhibition of them ALL leading up to Shakespeares birthday celebration. I will feature this on the new web site you have brilliantly arranged for us. May I on behalf of the Stratford-upon-Avon Artist colony thank you and Shakespeare's Stratford for such wonderful support.

Hi Steve

Just off to Oz but decided to have another look at the site before I left - absolutely brilliant. Full of interesting bits of info and photos. Have just got a contract for YA historical novel on the Templars, but am desperately trying to get someone to take me up on a series set in the Zulu wars. The hero is a provost marshall, one of the first military policemen, trying to solve a murder during the war action. Lots of rejections at the moment though. I noticed a photo shot of the film 'Zulu' on one of these pages. Is that one of your interests too?

I'm really excited to be invited on all the groups. I'm a bit of a facebook virgin, so be patient with me while I try to figure out the procedure!

Who is Steve Newman?

I'm a freelance writer, actor, historian, director, publisher and playwright living and working in Shakespeare's Stratford.

In April of this year (2008) my wife, Hilary, and I created and ran the first Stratford International Festival of Literature over three days at the Mercure Shakespeare Hotel. It was a fabulous time, but exhausting. We're not quite sure what to do next year, perhaps several one-off events instead of a three day marathon. Watch this space.

We've also created Newman Books ( see Main Page), with our next publication the first collection of poems by Stratford poet Peter Cubitt. Again, see Main Page for details of an up-coming event.

A Review of Shakespeare's 'The Winter's Tale' at the RSC's Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon

The new production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale - starring Greg Hicks as Leontes, and directed by David Farr - is a masterpiece of how an old war horse can be turned around and made new.

Frost/Nixon

Hilary and I went to see Ron Howard's film Frost/Nixon on Monday afternoon at Stratford's Picture House, and it was a truly magical two hours plus of cinematic joy.

Joy in the sense that every second had something worth observing and worth listening to: great photography, light… Continue
